Pease Park is an urban park paralleling Shoal Creek and is steeped in Texas History. Originally a native American site, it was also a campsite for General Custer's troops (many of whom died at the site due to Cholera) and was the site of a gold rush. Purchased by Governor E.M. Pease and his wife as part of his larger estate, they later donated it to the City of Austin as parkland.
