At Thompson Surveying there are three types of Proposals. Lump Sum, Estimated Fee and On Call Services. No work is scheduled or performed without a signed contract proposal per their website and owner. Unfortunately Bud Thompson has threatened to sue me for a survey that was never performed or agreed to.nor was their a signed proposal which he committed to provide for several days.

Day One 6/7/22 I had already provided 3 pin locations when he came to assess the property lines. On the phone, we had agreed to $1000 dollars for a survey that should take half a day services if he had the appropriate survey equipment. He arrived for his assessment later than he had originally scheduled and admitted he was lost in the neighborhood when he drove past me the first time.

He seemed dazed and confused. I attributed it to the texas heat and his age. I immediately showed him the original pin locations (3 out of 7) that were already marked but he chose to add his own poles and flags in order to get a GPS read. Unfortunately his tracking equipment had not been properly charged the night before as I saw him change batteries, curse his own equipment and blame the new 4g software for failure. Needless to say, the next hour was futile as I saw him sweat profusely and grow fatigued.

I insisted he sit in his air conditioned truck and hydrate. I joined him as he told me about his poor state of health conditions over the last several months. I felt sorry for him and told him it was too hot to continue his assessment in which he was grateful and told me he would submit a proposal from what he had just seen and return early the next day.

Day Two 6/8/22 Again, No proposal came that night and he was late again the following morning. Since we had an agreement for $1000 I felt he could take his time during cool morning hours nor did he inform me he was racking up hours and various other fees. I stayed with him the first 2 mornings as he needed help every step of the way. His wife came at the end of the second morning and thanked me for making sure he was staying hydrated.

They left early due to the heat in which he could not tolerate over 90 degrees. Again no proposal submitted by the end of the 2nd assessment. Day Three 6/9/22 On the third morning, one hour before he was to arrive he finally sent the proposal for a whopping $5921.28 that claimed he was already $2400 into the survey. I met him and his wife on the property by 8:15 as they were setting up their gps equipment.

I was kind but straight forward that his proposal was shocking and to immediately shut the job down. He proceeded to inform me that I was already indebted to him for the $2400 and that the last customer had stiffed him for $7000! I informed him had we started with a proposal (other surveyors had quoted as low as $1200-$1400) that this situation would have never happened!

His own website confirms no work would be scheduled without a a signed proposal. He projected his voice at me and said he was leaving but would see me in court! In conclusion, I feel my kindness as an older widowed woman was taken advantage of. Not only was I misled as he misrepresented his intentions, but Threatening to sue me without legitimate cause is considered harassment and illegal.

The lack of his professionalism and loss of integrity is a clear indicator of his own desperate efforts to take advantage of someone who was genuinely kind to him. His last words to me were "Good luck lady, see you in court".
