He has surveyed in the waist deep, alligator infested swamps of Fort Gordon, Georgia; Three feet of snow in Grafenveer, Germany, and the heat of the Arabian Desert. Throughout the next twenty-one years he had a successful career as a surveyor culminating with an assignment as Brigade Chief Surveyor - responsible for the Brigade Survey Information Center (SIC) and coordinating the efforts of eleven survey crews. During that time he was responsible for the Army's portion of a multi-service recovery effort of Fort Braggs Artillery survey control points. Michael also served three years as a Drill Sergeant and completed his military career with a tour as an Airborne Field Artillery Battery First Sergeant. Since retiring from the service he has worked as a Survey party chief in Virginia and North Carolina, specializing in construction stake out, boundary and route surveys.
